Podcast: The Rise of Gamification in Retail

August 2020
The retail landscape has changed beyond all recognition in recent months and employees are being asked to work in ways that are new to them and in many cases they are having to go beyond their comfort zone. This might include one-to-one appointments with customers, online, video or phone consultations, marshalling of queues, increased click & collect services and additional cleaning duties.
Rewarding employees and giving them a stake in their work by providing a way to recognise these increased efforts can be supported by the introduction of gamification. The benefits of recognition include improved employer/employee relationships, increased productivity and improved levels of engagement and loyalty.
We spoke to Jon Seddon, Senior Solutions Consultant, at Reflexis to learn more about the importance of recognising employees and how gamification can increase motivation. Jon spent 12 years working at Waitrose & Partners and currently helps retailers all over the world to simplify operations, improve communication and optimise labour scheduling.
